Groupon....

The time between the IPO and Groupon stock reaching $0 is equal to our species' ability to go from "dreaming" to waking up to "reality"...

They were never going to the multi billion dollar company investors hoped.

No I think we all knew that - and said as much a year or so ago. I just can't get over them knocking back the $6b offer from Google. Surely the company itself knew better than anyone about the model not really working for the businesses? Was it greed? 6 bill just not enough these days?

When it IPOed it's market cap was over $17B... so it would have looked like a stroke of genius at that point of course it's now back down to like $3B or something...

That said, you can never underestimate people's willingness to believe their own BS... I have little doubt that most of the people at the top of Groupon thought they were the real deal (no pun intended).

;)

I spoke to a marketing guy who worked for Groupon a while back, and they said the $6bn offer whilst large on the face of it, was jam packed with T&Cs and unrealistic buy out targets.

Even so...I agree with what's being said

God to hear Google is smart enough to do their due diligence and want to buy a "sound" company.

I bet they are feeling like they dodged a bullet at this point.

Im pretty sure facebook is at least 30% down from its initial IPO price. Doesnt mean the death of facebook is coming.

Could also mean the initial IPO price was unjustified.

With Google backing it would have been a slightly different story imo.

I agree they probably would have interegrated it with their paid ads and made even more money from it, the thing is Groupon was charging too much and then the competition flooded in with better deals for small business.

Actually it closer to 50% these days...

And when a stock goes to $0 that basically means the company is dead, because it essentially means that the company doesn't have any future earnings which someone would purchase...

And businesses that don't make money go out of business... it's that simple.

Groupon's "future earnings" are very uncertain so the share price will fall.

would anyone buy from
HTML:
groupon

well the lack of replies tells a story?

mention a domain name that EVERYONE knows and get absolutely no replies to a simple question.

i have no agenda here, honestlyyyyyyyyyyyyy helena asked me " should she buy "

It's like asking if you should buy from eBay, or from PayPal.

Groupon don't provide the end service. It comes down to individual deal providers. Does the company that you are buying the voucher for have a good reputation?

Hard to answer really. Maybe that's why you had no replies.

I've bought from some daily deal sites. Saved a lot on local restaurants etc

Can't say i've bought from Groupon though. Check their refund policy though.
