Still confused by this.

Which metric should I pay most attention to. A single word generic .net.au I am looking a buying has the following results.

GLOBAL
broad : 7,480,000
exact : 368,000
phrase : 7,480,000

LOCAL AU
broad : 246,000
exact : 8,100
phrase : 246,000

Any guidelines as to how I should value it?

Thanks

Use local for the Australian space.

I love exact match keywords that have many thousands more in phrase searches, lots of long tail to be had.

Exact match for local is probably about 50% too high for all searches.

I would advise using "Exact" match as a guide then using Google insights for search to check over these results too as their are some very incorrect numbers.

I mean their are also many more enterprise software packages you can use for pulling data too yet they are not cheap and you pay per keyword.

Agreed. High phrase match gives you lots of development opportunities if you willing to develop a little content and do some SEO.

I tend to make decisions based on local phrase match, but I like to know there a good number of exact matches as well because the exact match is much easier to rank well for.
