Just read this on the Flippa blog this morning:

Looks like Flippa is not only aggressively growing its marketshare of domain auctions, but domain parking as well!
They seem to have been rapidly increasing the number of domains being sold on their platform over the last 12 months to the point where I think Flippa auction results are comparable, probably better, than other domain auction houses (ie GoDaddy, NameJet, SEDO, etc).
I suspect it is something to do with having a more "full featured" auction with the ability to include an auction description (sale pitch), comments, post auction negotiation, adjustable BINs and reserves, etc
It probably also helps that a lot of website developers use Flippa to buy and sell websites so they'd have a lot of end users actively using the site.
So I think these Flippa Parking pages are a very exciting development given that parking revenues aren't great (especially for AU domains) and most domainers make their real money from the sale or development of a domain, where as most other parking companies make their money from parking revenues.
So this sort of system potentially aligns domainer interests with their parking provider better.
What will be quite interesting to see is if lots of domainers start parking their domains with Flippa (apparently there are already over 4000 parked with Flippa) that will ultimately bring a lot more visitors to Flippa - and more eyeballs generally mean better auction results...
So this move may even create a virtuous cycle for domain and website auctions.
Despite all the positives, for us AU domain holders, it unfortunately looks like these parking pages might not be AUDA compliant given that there is no way to put advertising on these parked pages.
So I'd assume that AU domains parked at Flippa don't pass the "sole purpose for resale" part of the AUDA policy.
Still exciting news nonetheless.
