What's new

end of FIN year

Well I have had a great year and as always want to make it better as I find july and august suck for me with my clients thinking more about paying tax then marketing.

so I thought I'd share how I get over it, simple STOP what you are doing right now and PROMOTE yourself, its bloody hard to do but it works.

NOW is the time to promote yourself, think of an idea for THEIR WEBSITE, an upgrade that should be done, a banner that needs to be changed, an extra page to promote a new service of theirs etc

they will also want to be making money and getting rid of it.

your clients will be wanting to DUMP money before June 30th so why not let them DUMP it on you !

now there are 3 things here I have found, payment must be received by 20th June so you can get rid of it as well, I pay all my hosting bills, domains etc FORWARD in June, thus they pay me and I pay my bills.

second is you have to give them ideas on how to make the money.

3rd, look at your clients and see your recurring invoices for july and august, ring them up and get them to pay early, they pay you and are happy, you pay your bills forward and you are happy.

by the time September comes everyone is back into business spending.

I do the same in November for xmas as January normally sucks as well

just some ideas I wanted to share

8 days to go, time to ring some clients who are on the edge of commitment.

pay now, complete later, secure the jobs.

my roll this week will be phone phone phone phone.

payment cut off in my account by thursday.

then i just "pay it forward" , hosting, ISP, domain renewals, freelancers, etccccccccccccccc

gives you a nice start to the new FIN year.

We have been pushing a few cients who increase their spends, yet to be honest when you deal with mid-large business they plan more 12 months so budgets are usually running out by this period. They are more so waiting for next month so they pre plan what to do.

agree, and i have always said i am in SMB's.

although 15 years ago i had been selling to mid-large and i found them VERY frustrating. today they will say "we are just doing our budgets" and tomorrow they say " ohh , the budget is already set so we have no money "

it must frustrate you james to actually get to the decision maker, i find it hard enough to get past the receptionist when i know the owner is standing next to her !!!

i actually did this once, CBD Ballina, standing outside the store i wanted to sell advertising to, so i rang on my mobile and i was looking into the store as i knew what the owner looked like and the girl who answered just said to me " ohh, trudie isn't in at the moment, trudie was standing next to her !!!!!

( actually if i'm on the road selling i do this constantly :D )
