Domain Sales Negotiation

The other thing I would say on this subject is that picking up the phone (whichever party does it) is often the best way of reducing time and cutting out bs.
I recently had an enquiry on a decent generic premium domain name (one word, 6 letters) and when asked for a price I mentioned $6k, but based on previous dealings was sure we could be a little sharper, but asked how close to their budget that was.
Client offered $1k, but their language suggested they were keener than that, and happy to close out quickly.
Not looking for a quick sale, I suggested we were too far apart, and that we could leave this until the New Year
The client then rang me, and said surely we could come to a gentleman's agreement. We threw some figures back and forth and were able to agree a mid 4 figure settlement that we were both happy with.
Initial enquiry to signed agreement took around 90 minutes
Sometimes it is better to strike while the iron's hot
In this case, the client has bought himself a nice little christmas present, and we don't need to wait for the January sales, and get to pocket some cash now
Win:Win
