Thanks Tim for your input.
Let's say, as a domain investor and you have 100 if not 1000 of domains, would you still have time to spend on all of your sites though?? Yes I agree, time spent is an investment and not a cost!
Cheers,
as a domain "investor" thats all you are doing, its like buying vacant blocks of land and thats ok
but for me "its my job" i'm 100% online and self employed so for me the answer is YES, spending time on them is worth it.
i also do it myself but also outsource for big projects, i just make that decision on a day to day basis and also on the project GOALS.
i have @ 250 domains myself which i'd say 80% are online making income, i have just implemented a new strategy for myself that will see 100% of my domains online making money before the end of the year , this is without interupting everything else i do AND its not parking.
i manage @ another 100 that a fair dink businesses and i manage @ another 150 that are about to go down the new path i have set with my domains
yes you can park 250 domains in 2 minutes but from people i speak to "it doesn't pay the bills" and if it does then you have a great domain that could make MOREEEE money if you put some effort into it.
my thinking is if you have a good domain that is a good keyword combo then you are better off doing targeted affiliate programs rather then parking. takes more effort but but the yield is higher in my experience.
i'm finding more and more and MORE there are many types of domainers and this solidified itself for me in sydney last week at the meetup.
with ALL due respect this view has not come solely from the sydney meetup:
1) buy / hold / sell
2) buy / build / sell
3) buy / wish they had the knowledge to build / oh shit just sell
3a) buy buy buy buy buy / wish they had the knowledge to build / oh shit just sell
4) buy/ flip instantly ( dangerous if you are not experienced )
and i am sure others can add number 5 and so on.
