Domain names of famous people

Looking at expired .com.au domains, I can see tons of famous-movie-star-name.com.au,
e.g. penelopecruz.com.au , johntravolta.com.au , etc.
Is there a trademark issue with the names, or would they have been dropped for other reasons?

Best advice I can give you is avoid domains which contain people's names, and avoid trademarked terms. There are plenty of opportunities to make money through Ethical Domaining. Also it is best to buy small numbers of high quality names rather than loads of rubbish...

Since the Google updates over the last few years (especially the EMD update) you can't expect to actually get any of that search traffic. Not unless you put a heap of work into the website. Having the EMD isn't enough any more.

And even if you did manage to get all that traffic, what would you do with it?

My advice is to concentrate on quality commercial domains rather than this type of thing.
