Domain advice

Hi I would like some advice please if anyone has successfully been able to recover stolen .com domain names.

It appears my GoDaddy account was recently hacked and two .com domain names were transferred out without my approval. one was a NLL.com and the other was LLLL.com.

I discovered the breach when I tried to log in yesterday morning. Once I finally managed to get onto phone support I was able to get back into my account but it was too late as these .coms were gone. Other domains were not taken so it's obvious that the person involved was only interested in the .com's

A whois on the domains shows they are now with a company called eName technologies which seems to be a Chinese registrar. From my reading other people have also ended up with domain stolen from accounts sent to this same registrar.

The GoDaddy salesman who are the only ones that seem to answer calls (once I convinced him that I did not want to purchase anything) advised me to send an email to undo@godaddy explaining the details which I have done in great detail but so far I have not heard back from them. I have also fired off another email to support@godaddy.com and to the existing eName registrar but these bounced back. I personally feel the email has gone straight into the GoDaddy junk email box.

I don't know if you have tried to find a contact for GoDaddy lately but it's an uphill battle believe me. I can only assume they actively discourage any sort of email contact and the support pages just lead round in circles.

From my reading of previous cases it would seem that my chances of success are somewhat limited so I'd be grateful if anyone here has any suggestions.

Those pathetic idiots at godaddy management have dropped the support@godaddy.com option and the other email addresses seem to be run by monkeys?? Another option is abuse@godaddy.com, also you should be able to see a sydney phone number on the front page, apparently this is the only way to get local support. Many domainers are reporting stolen domains to the blog domaingang.com where they have been publishing the stolen names. All stolen names seem to end up at ename ???

Hopes this helps a little, good luck

Thanks for that I've sent another email off to the abuse@godaddy address. Maybe they will reply to that one. I'm not having any luck calling the Sydney number the story I get is to email which I have done. Time to move all my domains out of GoDaddy.

Hi Alan

Forget messing around with Godaddy, I can recommend my US colleague Steven Lieberman from GreenBerg Lieberman our website contains his details here. Stevan was behind the recovery porn.com, which had recently been stolen. He is the one of the few people who is experienced in recovering stolen domains.

Update on Stolen Domains
Back in December I advised that my GoDaddy account had been hacked and two .com domains were transferred out to the Chinese registrar eName Technologies. Well I'm pleased to advise that I have now recovered the two domains. I thought I would just have to write them off but have to say perseverance pays off. Received this the other day and the domains are now back in my name.

"We have great news for you! Verisign has found in your favor in the dispute we put together and filed on your behalf. The domain name is now back with GoDaddy. Please visit GoDaddy.com to create a brand new account to receive the domain name and let us know the customer number you create we can quickly return it to you."

Maybe GoDaddy and ICANN got sick of me hounding them...lol
Anyway goes to show that it is possible to recover stolen domains and I'm very happy with the outcome.

I wish you well, and in fact a few days ago received the basically exact same notice? It also stated that ename can in fact appeal the decision and that is why I have not mentioned it here. Until i see it in one of my accounts I cannot celebrate. Just a couple weeks of stress until hopefully ...... the correct outcome, fingers crossed!

Congrats Alan!

This Verisign dispute process is good news for people. Probably worth the admins of this forum filing this thread somewhere to refer to others. This is the first time I have heard of Godaddy doing anything about stolen names.

great news, and good for all of us, thankyou, these registras have a LOT to lose if this keeps happening and the fear of social media viral is a powerful one.
