A couple people have posted around the forums about their ownership of.co.nz domains which got me wondering can Australians buy.co.nz?

Sure can - Mark knows the full rules & regs but I think they are fairly 'progressive', shall we say

I posted on this the other day. As David says, they are very "progressive".

Basically:

1. Anyone from anywhere in the world can buy a .co.nz name

2. No ABN's or "close and substantial required".

3. Cost per year is around $NZ20 to $NZ22 (a bit more expensive than Aussie domains).

4. But the good thing is that they do not charge a cracker for COR's!

The equivalent of auDA is: http://dnc.org.nz/

And just to add to Neds info:

"Eligible registrants are identifiable individuals over the age of 18 or properly constituted organisations. Those 2LDs that are freely available are .ac.nz, .co.nz, .org.nz, .net.nz, .geek.nz, .gen.nz, .maori.nz/.māori.nz, and .school.nz"

Registered one in the past, was straightforward. Remember though it is a very limited market and not nearly as wealthy as here.

Totally agree. And the Aussie market will grow far quicker too imho.

But if you've got "category killer" domains, then these will always do well (but not as well as here).

Just as .au category killers will never do as well a .com

There is money to be made - and plenty of it I'm sure!
