"Statement from the auDA Board
Posted by auDA on 18 June 2019
The auDA Board today announced the immediate resignation of auDA Chair Chris Leptos AM.
The process to select a permanent replacement will commence immediately through the Nomination Committee. Until that process is complete, current Independent Director Suzanne Ewart will serve as Chair.
auDA’s Board and Management wish to thank Chris for his service and wish him well for the future.
Under Chris’ leadership, auDA underwent the most significant constitutional and policy reform since it was founded two decades ago.

About auDA
.au Domain Administration Ltd (auDA) is the administrator and self-regulatory policy body for the .au ccTLD.
In December 2000, the Australian Government formally endorsed auDA as the appropriate body to administer the .au domain space. The Government holds reserve powers in relation to domain names under the Telecommunications Act 1997.
In October 2001, ICANN recognised auDA as the suitable operator for .au under a Sponsorship Agreement."

The fact is Leptos should have been removed in 2018 with the majority of real auDA members voting to remove him at the SGM.

He was an absolute disgrace in the way he managed things and he was part of the poor mismanagement that has severely damaged trust in auDA and proper process. They destabilised the .au namespace bringing it into global disrepute.

Let's not forget the stacking by Leptos of his family into auDA voting demand class members also in 2018. Is this the act of an "independent" chair? No. Blatant Stacking to save his own auDA paycheck.

At least this way he can say he left before .AU, this is likely to be a well publicised failure in my view.

Well, he certainly resigned quickly, before anyone could justifiably say "mission accomplished" and with only a very brief parting note from auDA. I'll leave you to read in to that what you will.

After the tiff with DoCA about their status on the Board, and the PR nightmare at the Heart Foundation, he really hasn't had the best month: https://www.heartfoundation.org.au/news/heart-foundation-apologises

At least he still got favorable write-ups regarding his departure.

I'm sure all of the Interwebs boffins *sigh* are very grateful for his efforts.

I'll bet you a pound to a penny that the auDA Nom Com may have been involved in some way.
But, for some reason, both Associate Members and the general public remain unaware of the committee's composition.
Given that the NomCom is the most powerful governance entity auDA has ever had, and will soon start work on finding a replacement Chair, I think this situation should be rectified ASAP.

Well that's service for you.
I see that the membership of the NomCom has now been published.

Vast government experience from Messrs Stevens, Besgrove, Bean and Epstein, industry know-how from Jacqui LeFevre and Nikki Scholes and Third Sector experience from Karen Hayes.
+1 for gender balance too.

Having the Board Chair running the show still does not sit well with me, but perhaps it will work more smoothly once it is a NomCom appointee in the role.

Yup, that was the govt-auDA "tiff" I was referring to.
A few weeks ago, I was looking for something unrelated and found the interaction between DoCA and auDA on the auDA site. Via Google, mind you, buried somewhere obscure. Probably only published because DoCA "suggested" as much in its letter.
It has now been moved to the Board page.

DoCA to auDA and auDA to DoCA (both links to PDFs)

Leptos' (and therefore auDA's) position directly contravenes the findings of the Government review of .au.

auDA's usual lies.

Here is a glimpse of what really happened as the auDA CEO Blair Cameron Boardman and Chris Leptos auDA Board Chairperson came head to head at the auDA board meeting this week where the not for profit Directors get paid $1500 sitting fee plus expenses to attend via phone or in person!

The @ceo_auda at @auDA has been sprouting to anyone that would listen that he and @chrisleptos weren't seeing eye to eye. "Fucking the relationship with DoCA" is what he told one source. The only "mission accomplished" is that got rid of a chair that was no good.

Thank goodness another of the fake Not For Profit's auDA money sucking leaches is gone.

I'm sure he'll be remembered for his services to Australia by allowing the large cohort of foreign auDA members (who were employees of an auDA contractor) to determine the outcome of key issues facing Australia's key public asset.

The overlooking of the fact they shared a single email address was particularly telling.
