It will help grow my industry. We specialise in forensic UX, SEO & digital Brands. This will be a awesome for our industry and digital consultants everywhere as we help our clients navigate through the increased cyber-security risks and brand depreciation that comes with the new namespace. In addition to that there will be more competition in search, so we will have to charge more there as well. Happy days </selfinterest>

There will be good money to be made in Phishing as the punters become more confused with the namespace.

New EMDs will become available so I will be able to compete in search with established Brands.

Great funding for AUDA. It should really grow their coffers with defensive registrations.

I'll become a supply member and sell a bucketload of .AU as a reseller. BIG $$$ there. I already have a marketing strategy.

A Dubbo Dentist would be able to register dubbodentist.au for $25 and actually use it to promote his dentist business in Dubbo as opposed to buying the name from the owner of dubbodentist.com.au which is a monetized page and probably owned by someone who is neither a dentist nor in Dubbo and would likely sell it for many multiples of $25.

Alternatively if they opened up the State based names he could register dubbodentist.nsw.au

    Sorry Tim, no comments allowed.
This thread is open slather positives whether you AGREE OR NOT.
I think that it is important that ALL of the "positives" are established.
    Thanks,
    David

I know that Tim but it is a good reason and probably applies to many similar situations. :)

Stupid thread. Your no comments rule?, but you comment every post. Someone puts reasons and you tell them to stop.

b*llsh*t , its a pretty simple concept, "TELL us why a .au is good"

fact is virtually nobody has been able to do that !

my comments have been so the space is clean to give the positive, if you remove the comment posts ( which i can't) you end up with @ 2 valid posts.

so there are THUS 2 valid post for a .au

soooooooooooooooo, please someone tell me all the great reasons for a .au , all those ones you submitted to the prp, the original names panel, everything as i really want to see them.

You’re on the board. Surely you can just pull up that info yourself. If you’re trying to prove there are no good reasons for direct registration, you’re beating a dead horse too. Everyone knows this already, including auDA.

    Readability

    Memorability

    Marketability

    Printability

.au will be around the top of most domain list choices

International best practice for most nation states

We're probably one of the last countries to do this, so let's try and not be *the* last country because that would be an international technological embarrassment like say for example the NBN
