The highest converting channel for my sales, by a long way, has been having the domains resolve to a page that includes a 'make offer' form or 'buy now' button.

It looks like your domain is currently resolving to a page with ads, but no mechanism to make an offer (or buy on the spot). You're missing out on prospective buyers right now, so I would address that as a matter of priority first.

I've done a lot of testing on what works over the years, so you could check out one of our marketplace listings/landing pages for inspiration. For example, navigate to endurance.com.au or ecofriendly.com.au to see the landing pages/listings.

Incidentally, the eBranding.com.au marketplace will open up to select portfolio holders with top quality domains in the future. I haven't promoted this at all yet, so you've just got an early scoop! More info here: https://www.ebranding.com.au/approved-marketplace-sellers/

Agree. Just needs a mean by which people can make contact. Forget about marketplaces other than Godaddy/Afternic. Mostly they have close to zero distribution (Godaddy being the big exception).

If you want to sell it quickly though you would need to look at marketplaces, forums etc but you are only likely to get a reseller type price.

Thanks to both. I saw your landing page ebranding. I have nanotech related links for monetisation purposes and to prevent a complaint from succeeding. I wouldn’t mind both the related links and make offer button but not sure if any one provides that?

As it currently stands, yes you have to include monetisation ads/links to meet policy requirements. This was set to change along with a raft of other policy improvements, but auDA inexplicably shelved the lot, so who knows what will eventuate.

I wrote this quite a few years ago now, but it should still be helpful:

Bodis.com makes it easy to set up a landing page with ads, along with a 'make offer' or 'buy it now' link.

Luke is a fantastic writer - far better than me in fact! I wish he'd do more of it. :)

Absolutely correct about still having to meet policy requirements.

In my experience, all parking companies are as "useless as tits on a bull" when it comes to parking revenue on Aussie domains. But as Luke says, they serve their purpose by helping meet the crazy red tape that auDA still has - plus they can generate you enquiries.

I use ParkingCrew, particularly because you can set your own keyword terms for acronym domains. I don't have a "for sale" banner - but I do give people the opportunity to get in touch with me. As an example, have a look at gft.com.au. This totally complies with auDA policy (I have checked).

I know your number Rod, and I've blocked it. Ha ha - just kidding of course. :p

There is a definite downside to having my mobile up there (some of the whacky calls I have got - particularly on paydayloan.com.au!), but overall, it has been more positive than negative. It is great to have the opportunity of actually talking to a potential buyer rather than a back and forth email exchange. That said, I have also actually sold a couple of domains purely by text!

I know some will say get a virtual number or message service rather than using my own mobile, but it's hard enough to get prospects in the first instance, so I prefer it this way.

I've switched to Uniregistry Marketplace, which I have found to be quite user friendly and easy to add new domains to. You can display ads for monetization/compliance (although for some reason I find these don't load well on Firefox) and a contact/offer button for sales inquiries. See plus.com.au as an example.

Another benefit is it works as a good CRM to track all your incoming leads, offers and sales over time.

Another marketplace is the actual market. Pick up the the phone or shoot off a couple of emails to those companies in the nanotechnology sector. (Including, ASX, government dept and NFP)

Bodis do exactly the same. Even looks the same. (Stole your idea for adding the number)

Thanks Ned. That's the default layout with Bodis.
