not worth the renew or hand reg. fee there is thousands of .net.au's still available for hand / new registrations that are similar. Only people it would be of value to would be Caroma to protect their .com.au . They would be wise to not overspend on it also but to them maybe $5000 is nothing.... who knows until the drops... people have different budgets these days and its hard to guess what anything will sell for anymore in the Australian market.

Thanks for your input DomainNames. I've been watching the drop auctions without participating for the last few months just to see what they're going for before I test the waters and bid on one.
Of course, being new to the domaining arena I've got plenty of dodgy hand regs that I couldn't believe no-one had already grabbed!

No probs Ash, Ifit was Bathroom.com.au it would be worth something but its not. Save your cash for something better... Theres heaps on netfleet.com.au aftermarket which are better.
Cheers DomainNames - I was more so trying to 'spot one' rather than going to bid on this domain. Nonetheless, I will be keen to watch how this domain unfolds while I build up my intel.
P.S. To my untrained eye, I haven't seen any domains on the aftermarket that have grabbed me yet, but that's more likely a function of my cost/value assessments than anything else.

Who knows - but they must not have been bidding on Drop because I won it on Drop (failed to catch though).Ouch. $1!beaten by a proxy bid (wonder how high they were prepared to go?)
All in all I have no one to blame but myself - I should have bid more.
I didn't consider the fact that it fitted nicely in with an already successful kitchen site that I already have (domain bidding always so hectic for me because I only give myself 40 minutes prior to the auctions to research and bid on domains). If I had of I would have been happy to go to at least $225+ (but that may not have even won it)
Oh well, lucky for me there is always tomorrow, and I have no shortage of domains to develop.
You just can't predict it sometimes. There was a .net that recently fetched over $2K and I was quite surprised with that.
