Melbourne-based technology company ARI Registry Services is set to power the first of a new wave of internet domain names.
After just over a year of applications and lotteries, the first set of new domain names (like .fun and .play) are just months away from hitting the internet. Leading the charge will be the ARI Registry Services supported web suffix, شبكة. (dotShabaka meaning .web in English).
Non-English domain names were prioritised for launch by the company running the endeavor, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), in a bid to encourage web diversity.
“We’re extremely proud to be supporting such an important project," ARI Registry Services CEO Adrian Kinderis said in a statement.
