Adult Domains is it worth it?

Hi

I am puzzled and need some feedback...Would you buy a xxx domain between $1 -$2k that has 90,000 exact monthly searches and a CPC of $0.60c or is it to complex to bother given the laws and censor filters in Australia?

I have a couple of keyword.com domains that are niche specific that convert to paid membership at around 1:3000. Pays $30 per sign up (sell like 1-2 a month). I don't know what the industry average is but I'd guess it isn't that great as it once was.

Also, many providers have cut their prices as well as giving access to their entire catalogue of sites as an incentive for people to sign up.

If your keyword is just porn, I don't think I'd bother unless you have a real product you can ship to them or that is in demand. You just can't compete with all the tube sites that offer free porn these days.

I'd also avoid .com.au for running a porn site due to stupid censorship laws (no water sports, hentai etc) and the fact it's something I think you want to attack from a global instead of local perspective (unless you have a product to ship).

Good points you make, thanks for the info...

i can see now the keyword could only be monotised as a paid membership site or a tube site, But WOW its allot of exact monthly searches...pity its pure filth

Could it be redirected to a .com site to increase traffic or are there rules on that in Australia?

Problem is that there are heaps of tube sites now as well.

Pure filth probably converts the best if it's a fetish and the stuff isn't being mass produced by the porn industry. A product is even better; here's an example.

Dakimakura or Japanese love pillows (Please don't ask how I know about these!)

I don't know if there are rules about redirecting a .com.au to a .com but provided it isn't highly illegal, I doubt they'd ever bother you.

You could always register it and toss up hand written reviews of all the paid membership sites in that niche. If it's available to hand register, I'd probably pay the reg fee at least.

I think he's saying it's available to purchase for $1k - $2k? Might be too much of a risk at that investment based on your feedback Worgeneral... but risks can also pay off.

The other think to bear in mind is is adult sites are generally excluded to Google default search preferences so you might struggle to convert much of that search to traffic.

If it has type-ins though....

Can someone explain this to me?

The googirls keyword tool indicates 90,500 exact monthly searches for Australia, isn't that suggesting type-in traffic?

The googirls keyword tool ( KWT ) is a tool designed to sell advertisements.
Unfortunately many people think the KWT will help value a domain name
In my opinion that belief is horsehite
You would have to include the full domain e.g xxxx.com.au , not just the term to get a true indication of exact searches
Even then, treat the result with the knowledge that the stats have been produced by ad men
