I've stumbled across Cheap Domains and their .com.au domain pricing is very attractive. They are the cheapest that i've seen at $9/yr which is actually $18/2 yrs. The downside is their .net.au pricing :( http://www.cheapdomains.com.au/domain_names/index.html

I've got a shared Linux hosting account at Netlogistics and it's been reliable. Also have a reseller account at VentraIP/Cove. Haven't had any issues there either.
