I haven't been kicked across to Upwork yet. The Elance system is still working as normal but with "An Upwork Company" text next to the Elance logo.
I'm guessing I'll be moved across soon enough...
I don't actively sell domains, but I thought I'd share a quick success from today.
An end user contacted me via phone asking about a domain I purchased on the drops last year.
A few emails and another phone call later we agreed on a $x,xxx price and the money is already in my account.
He found...
Not really. Often the usernames can give people away, but this time there were nine bidders and not one of them had a username which gave any clues!
Of the people who actually contacted me, it would have been a fairly even split between financial advisers and internet marketers.
Yeah there was a bit of marketing, basically just emailing financial advisers whose websites ranked for similar terms. A few emailed back, and a few called me for a chat.
I also shared it on LinkedIn, where 95% of my contacts are in the insurance industry. They buyer ended up being a financial...
I can't comment on Hostgator, but the three hosts I've used for years and had limited issued with are:
GD Webhosting
AussieHost.com
VentraIP
Ventra would be the one I've had the least issues with, but they're all still pretty good.
Selling the very nice brandable, memorable domain Loop.com.au
I purchased it from Fairfax / OMG for a project last year, but now I'm moving on.
Contact me if you're interested.
Best of luck with the sale.
Have you done any marketing of the auction? I've sold a couple of sites on Flippa (and have one listed at the moment) and most of my decent sales have come from people that I contacted during the auction period.
I'm selling one of my insurance lead generation websites on Flippa:

Let me know if you're interested or have any questions.
Many years ago you were able to pay a fee at the department of transport and they'd give you the plate owner's contact details. They don't do that anymore, presumably for privacy reasons.
Thought I'd share a little 'success story' from April Fools' Day.
I put together a little joke for my number plate site, which ended up generating over 50,000 unique visits to a dummy website I setup the day before.
I've put together a more detailed post here if anyone's interested...
Looks good Tim.
What I was after was a real "call to action" type page since it will be the landing page from an Adwords campaign.
Anyway I ended up getting something done via 99designs which I'm super happy with. The cost was just over a grand, but I think it will be worth it.
The coding is...
Does anyone have any good landing page examples to share?
A Google search reveals a million different options for "Best 5 landing page designs" etc etc but they're all rather boring.
Does anyone have any real examples of landing pages that look great and convert well?
Personally I'm a big fan of...
I just went to their website and clicked on the link to send them a news tip.
A journalist emailed me back and arranged a time for a phone interview.
The radio interview came about after one of the producers at the ABC read the news article.
Maybe. I have a few short plates, and I do like short domains.
But that may simply be because I happen to be interested in both domains and number plates.
Just thought I'd share a little win from yesterday.
I managed to get a link from the Brisbane Times, which is the Fairfax news website up here.
Here's the article. My link is in the third paragraph...
