The ABN for the current registrant was cancelled in 2008. Not sure how any COR wouldn't be against auDA policy.

whois.org.au isn't working for me (well, technically it is but it's redirecting to http://admin.auda.org.au). Should I use one of these instead (probably not an exhaustive list o_O)? whois.auda.org.au whois.audns.net.au whois.auda.ltd

I must have misread it, it's 150GB webspace, but the next plan up is 500GB SSD. I know crazy don't have a fantastic reputation, however if your client is driven by specs alone as opposed to quality and repuation, it's a deal worth trying.

Forget the unlimited part, no provider has truly unlimited space hosting. I don't know what the actual space requirements are, but you won't get a better deal on paper than crazydomains if the main requirement is lots of space. I'm not a fan of them, but who else gives 150GB SSD space at that...

Possibly the worst solution to the problem that shouldn't exist in the first place.

You can't lock .au domains in the traditional sense like .com. There is a product called auLOCKDOWN but I don't think it's what you're referring to. If the domain transfer request has been approved (not just submitted, approved), the transfer will complete in 48 hours.

Mammoth & BinaryLane (owned by Mammoth) are Australian providers. Never used them so can't vouch for them at all.

Great point DomainNames, I agree. It wouldn't stop a normal registrar from still running a backorder service and bidding on the domain, unless the policy was updated to allow auDA exclusive sale of purging domains which prevent them from doing so.
