A good poll on DomainInvesting asking for opinions on the value of Shopping.com.

TechCrunch published an article about EBay shutting down its eBay Commerce Network. The Shopping.com domain name was mentioned in the article because it is used by EBay as a part of its Commerce Network:

This type of name is out of favour in my view. 20 years ago, yes, you'd expect some huge site with a lot of funding. Today though the name is getting somewhat long for a big venture and not really a good brand (not going to get much trademark protection).

I said about $1.5million, I think the most obvious buyer is a domainer or a large company just buying it to put away and not really use.

Quite possible as they seem to buy up a lot of competing sites.

It's hard to see an obvious buyer because it's almost too generic. Does anyone actually type shopping into their browser as a search term. I can only see 500k at best in this one. Needs a big budget to make it work.

Agree, it is too generic. Would say this is definitely a big keyword though in terms of volume.

Generic yes, but a good one.

As a side note - shopping.com.au redirects to coles.com.au.
