Data now out on auDA membership,

The new membership list was published last week revealing that the “loyal” registrars now control 75% of the membership base. Most of their employees are based in the Philippines, Canada, USA, Ukraine & Singapore. This means auda is now 60% foreign membership and the bulk of these new members do not seem to have any online presence, which begs the question how are the in anyway eligible for membership of auDA to begin with?

These employees have not had to pay for their memberships nor have they had to undergo a manual verification process of their details or be interviewed to confirm their eligibility to become member like local domain name holders have to be.

A foundation built on SAND.

Every time they say it is is used a political buzzword only.

Boardman feels the need to control everything, top down. His method of running auDA has nothing to do with the multi stakeholder model. If he did follow that model he wouldn't be in constant hot water for making decisions the membership base doesn't agree with.

Agree, Government intervention came about because Boardman & Co resisted the Multi-Stakeholder Model which is based on, consensus driven decision-making from multiple parties, where no one person controls the outcome.

Jim, if you are viewing this thread,

Do you know roughly how many signups relate to each of the 3 registrar and the registry?

Affilias & Dreamscape (& subsidiaries) have the lions Share - ARQ is a little harder to investigate because of the number of businesses.

Thanks Jim.

Will 300 people be turning up auDA given the increased membership base? Maybe they can hire a "flash mob" from the nearby universities?

However the auDA spokesperson said the list of members did not disclose a person's country of origin or other details.

"Therefore, it is impossible to draw any conclusions as to the make-up of the membership based on the list," the spokesperson added. "Further, auDA will not comment on any individual membership application.”" SO does auDA know we're their from?

Perhaps these directors of auDA can tell us why this tsunami of foreign new members haven't been called up to verify their credentials like Australians are?

auDA Governance Committee
  • Sandra Hook (Chair)
  • Tim Connell
  • Erhan Karabardak
  • Grant Wiltshire
Sitting on your principles Tim?

Afilias is the registrar and controls what % of auDA member votes?

I can see it now, Tim proposes a resolution at the AGM, that auDA enters into an exculsive arrangement with Afilias when the current arrangement is about to expire.

Branch stacked much?

Board captured much?

Australian domain system controlled by foreigners much?

auDA director Tim Connell is likely muzzled right now on the issue, it seems everyone at auDA is muzzled on the branch stacking issue except "auDA spokesperson" (Boardman?) who thinks "branch stacking" is a race debate.

Let's wait for the minutes, which I think have to be produced in the next few days according to their rules and see if Tim did anything or not.
