Google Analytics removing historical data on May 26, 2018

This may be of interest to some. It's an email I received from Jeffalytics about a forthcoming change to Google Analytics. It appears to be connected to the GDPR changes coming into effect in the EU, but will affect all websites that use Google Analytics...

One of the updates Google Analytics made concerning GDPR is a setting that allows you to manage how long you keep your user data on Google's servers. It's called data retention controls.

Your choice of the data retention setting has the potential to kill the "Analytics" part of your Google Analytics account...
