CONFIRMED Commonwealth Government will call for new .au management proposals

The Commonwealth Government will be inviting proposals for new organisations / associations to manage the au namespace. The organsisations/ associations may not even need to be in existence yet.

The Government wants to see who else can come up with other models worth looking at as the auDA "reform" has not worked and is not working.

They will also call for proposals on how the Commonwealth could also manage the .au namespace.. .

It has been 100% confirmed the Commonwealth has the power to wind up auDA and put in another .au management body or to actually do it themselves.

What they will be asking will include:
  1. Who can do it
  2. What benefits do they offer
  3. When can they do it
  4. How can they report better to Government and how can government better manage them
The auDA model is broken . It cannot be reformed. There are too many factual issues at play and even though many $$millions has been spent on reviews, committees, panels, Consultants, surveys, reports, investigations etc it has not solved the problems or "reformed" auDA. The digging for dirt internally at auDA has actually found too much to hide for the Government now.

The Department Of Communications Can do the job of auDA and in my opinion under all of the circumstances they should.

The Department of Communications and Government highest levels have NO INTEREST TO PUT IN ANOTHER COMPETING .AU EXTENSION.
Anyone saying they want it is spouting B.S. The Government wants stability and more growth from what is here already.. the existing .au namespace. They know for a fact many domain names are still not even developed they want to see organisations work to help this "build out". auDA should have set up Accelerators, Incubators for the existing domain name .au namespace years ago.. Maybe now they are too late... someone else will.

FYI Government knows who from Supply has done what to push the competing .au extension...they know the people who want the $$ and they have serious concerns about the process auDA has followed to date including the information put out, survey processes, Yes Only Vote stacking...They know auDA refused to contact all existing registrants with proper disclaimers, facts, detail who would get the .au, the extra costs etc.

We are now dealing with real auDA investigation if auDA is fit to continue doing the role or not... For a long time the Government had trusted what they had been told... now they know better.. The PPB investigation, Foi's have helped open their eyes..

And NO the Government has no plans or wishes to increase wholesale domain name pricing with a new .au manager or if they run it themselves so please no B.S scare campaigns about this!

The Commonwealth Government Opposition is also looking at things.. They know of the political links between people.. They also do not want "whitewash" review.

Government.. the people who can make it happen.

Wouldn't this conflict with the current review though? Are you sure they really have decided to seek other options as at the meeting they were suggesting reform and then shutting AUDA down if that couldn't be achieved. That is how it all looked to me anyway.

That is one of the most bizarre things you have said.
Supply are in the business of selling domain names.
It stands to reason that someone who sells domain names would want the opportunity to sell more domain names and yes make money out of it. I don't think there is any secret to that.

The "secret" was the processes followed including "yes only vote automated campaigns", yes only email templates to auDA ....all done by Supply Board related entities which many people where not aware of...

The government (and other parties) are now investigating the processes auDA has followed to see if this is proper management.

Now also various forums are being monitored to see what Supply parties are saying, what they are claiming ( they claimed the .uk and .nz had ben remarkably successful when they have not been etc), discussions on pricing, price signalling, anti competitive behaviour etc.
