As we have newer people often at auDA or on the Board as Independent Directors there is a real need for some form of formal training to be run to help them.

Some items they could use some training on asap:

1. What is the value of a domain name and how is this calculated? Why are .com.au worth more than other .au extensions and why have people bought .com.au?
2. What is Monetisation.
3. What is the domain name Aftermarket which allows people to buy names they may want others already own?
4. What are Domain Name Brokers and how do they help people buy names others may already own?
5. What is RDNH Reverse Domain Name Hijacking
6. What is Change of Registrant COR and why is auDA one of the only world bodies still charging for it with red tape and extra costs for .au registrant consumers?
  • It is FREE COR in most global extensions and domain name management admin bodies even when there is manual paperwork : Free in SG, Free in NZ, Free in Uk, Free in .Com Free in Ph, etc...
  • Time is way overdue for this red tape old policy "rip off' to stop.
  • This is what the government review needs to also look at as an example of auda management and the affect it has on .au registrant consumers and consumer pricing compared to other global extensions and policies. Most are FREE COR

Agree. I guess the question is where would the training come from?

At least now we have a proper domainer on the board. I don't know when is the last time that could have been said. Perhaps it has never been the case before? (aside from Lemon's short time)

It is a bit like Tim where finally there was someone who whose experience is with the type of small business that makes up a big chunk of domain users. I just hope AUDA will do the right thing with the casual appointment and put up the type of person demand class might choose rather than a captains call.

It would be great to have someone like Luke @eBranding.com.au or Shane @Shane as the demand class casual appointment, if either of them was interested. Both have extensive experience with domains and business, and understand how to link these two areas to leverage enterprise success.
