houghton richards - expired domain names

Hi All,
just wondering if anyone else has been receiving emails/phone calls from houghon richards?
Calls and emails in the last few weeks not only to myself, but clients.
Seems they are trying to provide services for those who may have let their domain names drop?
Apparently they ring up former domain name owners on the day of expiration, tell them the domains are going up for auction and assist with the process?
Regards
Damian

Hi @DamianLondon - I believe Houghton Richards are members here.

I haven't been called myself but I've heard of a few companies doing this. Not just previous owners, but also those running ads related to dropping names.

Damian, I think Rob Kaay has had some recent experiences with them (which he intends to write about). From what I've heard so far, it should be a good story!

Cheers, Ned

Thanks Chris and Ned for the feedback.

Hi Tim,

As DNTrade is a community of experts, many whom participate significantly more in the community than I, I thought it would be interesting to open up the conversation.

From a single call my knowledge of domain names, my clients company and marketing just went to the next level. E.g. Apparently, when a domain name drops has to be ‘bought back in USD’. Lucky enough to listen to and participate in a call from HR.

Regards
Damian

Thanks Tim, had a good refresher read.

Not much in there about Domain name Auctions only being available in USD, or their monthly domain name health services, or their brilliant technicians who can point a domain they purchase on my behalf at my website etc. etc.

do you ever go to a 3 day conference and its boring and then you meet someone thats says " bla bla bla" and you walk away thinking "it was worth the 3 days just for that comment"
there could have been a gem in that thread?
