For discussion;
Let's not forget auDA themselves are just on a government contract to administer the Australian domain name space. That contract is supposed to end this year? That contract can be cancelled or others can actually submit to perform the role.. just like auDA did years ago themselves.

Perhaps there needs to be a new organisation to submit an "unsolicited" bid to the Australian Federal Government to take over from auDA and properly put out to international open tender the Wholesale registry and back up registry?
  • New oganisation may take only $1 per registration and renewal. No COR fees. Why has auDA make so much profit over the last 16 years? This is not fair for Australian consumers.
  • New Wholesale registry may take $1 per registration and renewal. No COR fees. Why has auDA board/ panel committee member and subcontractor supplier Ausregistry / Neustar Inc a 100% foreign owned company make so much profit over the last 15 years? This is not fair for Australian consumers.
  • New organisation will submit for an incubator grant to work from Government provided space. most probably inside an area of the Department of Communications. This will ensure better working relationship with Government and less wasted rent etc https://www.communications.gov.au/what-we-do/internet
  • No more first class airfares
  • Tendering for all contracts and expenses
  • Free membership using the Canada model
  • Elections all online with candidate full disclosures - Canada model
  • NO supply or subcontractor ( wholesale registry) stacking of board, memberships, panels or committees
  • Fully disclosed meeting minutes - unlike auDA'd highly censored versions now.
  • All links to political parties disclosed in writing on the website.
  • Registry of interests published on the website
  • The Federal Government will be fully updated and involved to set up a back up system of administrations and wholesale registry
  • New organisation will apply to the Australian Federal Government to take over the 412 million auDA has in the bank to assist with transition
  • New org will more actively promote .com.au and .net.au plus our great .edu, .asn.au org.au .gov.au. These are all globally well known trusted and respected. There will be NO new competing money making .au extension and no wasted money to promote it.
  • There will be no false and misleading claims a competing shorter .au extension is needed or will be better than what we have now
INNOVATION
Registrars / resellers domain name consumers will get cheaper domain names at more globally competitive market leading prices. more accountability and transparency and an organisation focused on Domain names and the people who buy and use them.

Added security - Working out of Australian Government infrastructure, buildings, servers, wholesale registry backups etc.

This will not be another "empire" building entity that auDA was and it will not waste the $ tens of millions auDA has. It will not be run by any political party with jobs, contracts and benefits for related political parties members.

It is time to stop the rip off and conflicts of interest. Domain name experienced people get the organisation jobs only. No more job, board, panel, committee, sub contractor, suppliers 'rigging' or "stacking".

$12 million not 412 million typo :) This is massive money for a not for profit to have made in "profits" sitting in a bank. Crazy. it shows what a rip off auDA has been to domain name registrant owners / "consumers'.

The auDA board was looking got blow this money and buy a building to work out of ... really??? This is crazy! What happens to that building when auDA loses its own contract? Could Directors etc have any interests in that building or a cheap sale of it to them with NO PUBLIC OPEN TENDER? Don't laugh or think it could not happen.....

Jim You are one of the experts in the SEO and domain space. Let's see if Deloitte listens to you and writes about it in their " report".

Obviously auDA and the board are not listening. They seemingly want the $$$$ they think they will make? This has been a rigged for profit scam... full of conflicts of interest.

If ICAC had powers over auDA they would be under investigation by now but ICAC doesn't.... someone will pick up that task and backdate the investigation probably.

When you are talking possibly $millions of dollars some people are seemingly prepared to take a lot of risks.

If i was an auDA Director, policy or committee member I would be speaking up and not signing off on many things. Even if I was just 1 person recorded voting against I would want to protect myself and also do the right thing. Some people who have changed once they got on the auDA board have lost the respect of many who voted for them.

Some people have been very vocal and written against the new .au extension. Let's see if they are just active active and vocal now they are on the auDA board or when they talk to Deloitte.
