Latest NetFleet News - Some BIG Announcements

Just read the latest NetFleet blog post - I felt the most interesting part was:

As many of you are aware over the last month we ran a customer feature request forum. Thanks to all the customers who submitted ideas for amazing ways we can improve the Netfleet platform.

The results are in and over the next few weeks the development team at Netfleet will be scoping the requirements to implement a significant number of the ideas, based on customer voting.

This means between now and the end of the year we should see new features which include -

  • Zone management functions
  • Re-introduction of client auctions and client to client communications
  • Improvements to the parking pages
  • Even faster transfer process removing the red tape
  • Bid retraction window
The number of responses and the contributions were all really appreciated once these few changes are in place we hope to open the forum again so we can build the Netfleet that our clients want to use .
That's quite the development list!

I'm hesitant to get my hopes up (NetFleet have over promised and under delivered before), but it would be quite the Christmas present for the AU domain industry should these be finished by the end of the year.

*fingers crossed*

Definitely a few things to look forward to.
The client auctions I think would definitely help to get things rolling again for aftermarket sales.

I would love to see client auctions. Get the market moving a little more.
Yes, Bring back auctions like it was when Netfleet started but make it the best names not rubbish or it quickly loses peoples interest
  • Promote after sales of domainers via the auction and via netfleet
  • Take out the commissions or reduce them down to 5%
  • Run weekly auctions at the same time and promote it
  • Limit the auctions to .com.au, no hyphen, maximum 2 words
  • Allow seller to set minimum reserve and starting price
  • You could charge $5 (?) per name fora seller listing to avoid the dumping of rubbish names onto it
  • make the auction easily seen on the Netfleet website and via Twitter etc
Yes we all understand netfleet may be more interested in the drop market and it's own revenue but this would be a good way for Netfleet to gain back some trust and support from the industry, domainers / sellers, investors and also buyers. These people really the ones who supported and used Netfleet to make it the money it makes today.

Couldn't agree more.

NetFleet may make more money on expiring domains at present, but I think catering for the aftermarket segment will not only give them a second revenue stream, but also make the AU domain ecosystem more efficient which will produce positive externalities for the expiring market over time as well.

2 months ago, Netfleet said they would improve their service and said:

And they still have a blind bidding system that no one wants.
This is how the poll is looking today:

ZERO people like Netfleet's Blind Bidding Platform.
Yet Drop and Domain Shield seem to be falling even further behind their domination to catch names. Thus, we all have no choice.
We need a new AU Drop Catching service that takes things to the next level. (and don't look at me because I'm a domainer) Stat.
