That is a really messed up statistic. Money flushed straight down the toilet.
Which statistic is messed up?... The one where I missed the count? Because that is actually down to just 77 total available three letter .CO domains now. I think you might need to head back into math class or come up with a way to do your own bulk availability checking on lists in the thousands. ;)

I didn't say whether it was a good investment or not..That's not up to me or you, it's up to each individual investor to decide for themselves. I guess you'd probably say those who bought three letter .COM's back in the day threw their money right down the toilet as well? Even if they had a non-premium letter in them. Now I think I know 1 guy who not to take advice from, lol..

@Cooper Mills DomainLawyer - I'm not familiar with LLL.com.au, but I have been following .CO for a while now and am pretty familiar with their numbers. Nobody is going to slap either of your wrists and make you buy. But, I did post this list for anyone out there who does want to consider adding a few of what's left into their portfolio to tuck away for future flipping.

My LLL.co domains seam to get some traffic..I'm assuming most of that would be people trying to access the .COM version, but who knows - Maybe some of them are trying to access the .COM.AU extension as well :p

So .co buyers are like the people who bought lll.com in 1998? Or are they more like the people who bought 3 letter .biz's in 2004? Most people think they are more like the .com guy and not like the .biz guy, but the fact is very few of these buyouts have every amounted to anything.

I registered TPD.co on launch day. Not for resale, but because it's a common product acronym in my industry (insurance).

It's been parked with Sedo ever since and not a single offer has been received...

Hope you guys all got some before the buyout happened, although it seams most of you had no faith in the extension. I've been making pretty good returns on mine in just 6-12 months! :D

There are a few members here that have .co's, it's just the focus is more often au's.

Good to hear it's worked out well for you, thanks for the update @FPForum :)

Yet to hear of anyone who has really made much for new tlds ever (aside from registries who are on the other side of the transaction). That is why most have no faith. Not sure what "pretty good returns" means but I very much doubt you'll still be here talking up .co in 10 years time.

Buying names in a buyout is not a business plan.

Funny to see this old thread dragged up, as I just received an offer on my one and only lll.co.

The price wasn't actually that bad to be honest, although once you take into account renewals, the return is pretty average...

I think they purchased only recently on a sale, if you make a profit .....is it such a bad thing?

Well it is one person saying they sold a domain for $300 versus how many who are sitting on losses? I don't believe there is money to be made in registering names like this. Same thing used to be said about .tv and all the other alt tlds.

Please note CrankyPills.com.au is available to reg, most of the numeric domain sales seem to be domainer to domainer, last one loses?

Yeah would say it is almost entirely domainers buying for numerics and LLLL.com. Pass over the pills.
