In Webmaster tools I am wondering if anyone has a preference to the www. or no www. options, if so why?

Add the prefix you use. If you've ever used an alternative or merge to https add them as well. I use all of them in several cases.

I am saying that in Google Websmasters it offers two options, i just wanted feedback on that webmaster option, thanks

Actually it is three options, third being do not set an option
I have set it no preference at the moment

If i am putting a sign of some sort and it is for a .tv site I will always use the www. just to avoid any confusion
I think that's going to be more and more common into the future with all the new TLDs. It's ironic, as things had moved towards not showing the 'www', as consumers had become so familiar with website addresses (site.com, site.com.au etc).
Some of the nTLDs look weird without the 'www' though, mainly because it doesn't obviously look like a website address to most of the population.

Yes I quite often see shops using the DOT in their shop sign , of course there is no website with the address/signage
