Any more luck spacey? Bad situation mate.

Let's just say this is my reply

I am informed by the incident team the two step verification is not offered outside the United States ? The obvious question is why ........ you still charge me the same amount as people in the states to register a name and use your services?
~
I am also now informed via incident team that because of Godaddy's failure to offer better security for my account after being informed of the attempted fraud to gain entry into my amy account that i cannot gain information as to who had access to my account unless i lodge a subpoena? Are you kidding ........it's my account !!!! How dare you treat your customers like this
~
The whole incident is disgusting in my eyes, Godaddy charges overseas customers the same rates yet does not offer the same security options ...... are you kidding! Sounds like discrimination to me ??
~
The fact that I have to pay to see who has broken into my account speaks volumes to me about your company
~
I am receiving emails from people who are of the belief that there is an entity in Godaddy who supplies account information for the theft of valuable domains .......... i believe that is the case as well, there have been too many domains gone missing from your registrar .... even blind freddy can see what's going on
~
The fact that security levels are different for different customers is a strong indicator that something is up
~
X replied to the question, why has the support@godaddy.com option disappeared , he states he thinks that the live chat option is better, well another example of bias is that i can see no live chat support option for my account. Although if i do a domain search a live chat box appears offering assistance?? So it seems that if i am willing to spend more money at Godaddy i can get live chat, but if i have a problem there is only an expensive phonecall, i am not even in that state and interstate phonecalls to landlines tend to be costly
~
Whilst i do thank you for the time taken to respond, you may understand disbelief at the whole situation
~
So at the end of the day it appears Godaddy has screwed me over nicely
~
But hey you guys have a nice xmas too

can X's name be taken out of the above post, it was a reply email to one of godaddy staff, not him

Spacey that is a terrible experience
There are a lot of good Australian registrars who can replace godaddy, and provide good customer support. I would give them the flick if that is how they have treated you

That really goes without saying, of course i will be moving from godaddy, however there are some questions that should be answered by them, why was the two step verification not offered to me? Why the hell should i have to get a court subpoena to see who had access to MY ACCOUNT ..... not only is that joke but it's F**king insult to boot, obviously the experience has left a bad taste in my mouth, all important names will be moved ......that really goes without saying.

why was the two step verification not offered to me?

I think the reason for this is because it relies on SMS and they don't have the capability to offer it worldwide. Things are run in a very shoddy way at Godaddy.

The other thing to look at would be email security, 2 factor again and beware of email provided by webhosts many of which can easily be gamed by thieves.

The fact is they charge me the same as customers that are offered that service, i do not click on links in emails. If i feel there is something i need to know i will go to my account and see any new notifications, or as with the recent uniregistery mass email verification i will contact them direct, uniregistery sent out a whole heap of these and later sent out a 'sorry' email after everyone complained. I will write to Icann about this domain theft and Godaddy's attitude and then move on, on the eve of a new year i do not intend to live in the past, what's done is done and we all know to get help from godaddy is like pissing in the wind !

Unfortunately your pissing in the wind if you think Godaddy give a stuff about anything except making money. I also lost two .com domains last month in the exact same way. This is a link to the story I put on Domain Gang.
http://domaingang.com/domain-news/stolen-domains-erkz-com-4lq-com-snatched-godaddy/
Every time I contact them by phone about the case I'm accosted by sales people just trying to sell me extra services. Emails go unanswered or bounce back. Words cannot describe how angry I am at this company for the attitude displayed toward customers.
It's quite obvious hackers are targeting Godaddy and directing names to Ename etc. It wouldn't take too much to put in some safeguards as a double check.
OK had my vent...

I am extremely pleased to announce this domain has now been returned after Godaddy won an appeal against the illegal transfer and theft of this domain name, might just enjoy a couple of sherbets this weekend! I think the weight of numbers added to this decision and that the amount of stolen domains all ending up at the same registrar meant that even blind freddy could see what was going on! So although I openly scorned Godaddy I do have to say they did the best for me and achieved the correct result. The domain is locked and I have let them know of my gratitude! Although in the same email I did mention that a two step verification would have avoided all this. I have a list of two step verification registrars that I will use to then hold the name .... thanks to all and here is the list

Great news, I'm pleased to hear it. :)

Yeah it's a bit of a worry. I've got many hundreds of domains with GoDaddy and I've recently been contemplating moving the lot, as much hassle as that is, simply because they don't have two factor authentication.

correct me if i am wrong but drop.com.au have a very good system, as its a PAIN in the arse LOL, but once you get use to it, its ok.
NF and ventra and synergy all have good services i have used for COR and found them very protective of the domain name owner, so i'd say australia has some good systems in place
( i've only done .com.au )

Thanks Tim, I have looked at some of the local providers and I do have some names and hosting with VentraIP. The domain management system at VentraIP is not suitable for me, as it doesn't have the bulk features that make managing a large portfolio easier and less time consuming.

I've got a large number of .com domains (still the greatest proportion of my portfolio), although the .com.au part is growing rapidly and I'm buying a lot more .com.au than .com these days. GoDaddy's domain management system has been brilliant for managing a large number of domains, probably the best I've used (and I've used lots of registrars over the years!).

This discussion has prompted me to send an email on this issue to my GoDaddy account rep, so we'll see what happens. If they bring in two-step authentication soon, I'll stick with them. Aside from the lack of this security feature, I've personally found them excellent to deal with.

Spacey that is great news!

Good to hear also generally that Godaddy seems to have a new policy of doing something, or maybe it is a new Verisign policy?
