BHP fails to register a new spin off's name.

BHP thwarted by web squatters

Some poor bloke gets called a web squatter. That means he squatted on a spiders web I guess.

Sheesh AFR journo, everyone knows it's cyber squatter.

And I can't believe they actually provided a link to the "parking page".

another journo with nothing better to do !

but the article doesn't say cyber squating and its only a .com and the .com.au is owner by lawyers !!!

First registered 6 years ago so calling it cyber squatting is a bit absurd.

This is also a fabrication:

Fabulous Domains told The Australian Financial Review the address was sold in August to a Malibu-based company known as Kari Bian Film Company.

Seems like a pretty typical case of a marketing person not being smart enough to investigate a potential brand digitally before committing.

The likely hood of getting a digital identity in facebook, twitter, domains, instragram at the same time these days is unlikely

you'd be lucky to even get an unbrandable "F1lt3r3d" there's so many fake accounts

Just listened to the 3 minute 'tongue' loop of that song "you can have anything you want", I guess that says enough..
