Saw the mention on Twitter. The site of mine that had been attacked with neg SEO is now back in its rightful place at number 1. Pretty happy about it tbh

Update to my above post. I am not as happy as I thought. On one hand, the site that was attacked with neg seo has bounced back to number 1. On the other hand all of the other terms I was tracking have completely dropped off.

It seems very early to see a proper impact that can be verified and cross checked. I dare say brands will do well out of this update. I will be interested to see.

I've seen no change, once again I think good content, longevity with updates often and dare I say a good EMD prove to be stable.

PS: I'm fully aware I could do better on my sites.

Most of my sites made it through unscathed, and I had a few improvements which was nice.

But sadly my biggest site, which was the target of negative SEO last year (see thread here) has been wiped from the results.

This site was producing sales close to six figures a year, so it's pretty disappointing to lose it.

It's scary that a competitor can cause such massive damage to you. :(

This is bad news. Negative SEO really should be much higher of Google's list to address. I was hoping the new Penguin could have addressed this in some regards.

Ouch! bad luck Shane.

"It’s a slow worldwide rollout, so you may notice it settling down over the next few weeks."

Maybe your site will come back in that time.

Does anyone know or have tested whether defensive name name purchases redirected to a main website has any impact on Google rankings. I have about 10 domain names related to my main site all redirected.

As being hit hard by Penguin in the past, I have noticed some have come back in this latest update.:)

I've now created one main webpage with all my half a dozen websites all funnelling traffic to it for conversion.

It's not ideal, but with all the updates Google do I find if one website drops off for a while in rank the others make up.

Most of my traffic is longtail so with 6 different websites it adds up.

Shane I feel for you and this is a prime example of how Penguin (spam links) can be used to attack your website, it's not fair and Google needs to fix this problem somehow.

If they have no penalties associated with them previously I can't see them as having an impact. From test, 301's have boosted slightly some rankings of my domains.

shane that sucks.

hopefully you didn't have all your eggs in 1 basket as that is what i have made sure i did not do, i have a few different revenue streams and 1 has dropped this year because of CONSTANT hacking, its cost me mountainssssssssssssssssss of time, but at least the others have been paying the bills +++

i was fixing hack attacks yesterday !!!

they just think of new ways to get in?

knowing your vertical i can see how you are getting attacked, you just want to get a gun and go shoot them !

bugger
