I think I am repeating myself from a past post but YEP, its almost 4am and the reason why I am still here on the computer is because of hostgator, yes I love them but this is the one thing that totally S^^TS me about them.

you host with them, they can provide an SSL cert for your site but they don't invoice you the next year so your SSL goes out of date.

you have to fill out a form ON hostgator each year to get the SSL, you have to PAY hostgator but they don't provide the SSL service so they don't remind you !!!!!!

and the SSL provider comodo doesn't remind you either !!!!

so their system is, you have to remember to pay on a certain date, you then have to fill in a hostgator form, then hostgator send an email to comodo who then sends an email to you so you can say YES I want SSL, then hostgator invoice you, then you pay, then hostgator tell comodo you have paid then comodo install the SSL.

if YOU miss any of these steps your SSL stops, thus why I am here at 4am !

i missed a step,
then hostgator tell comodo you have paid then comodo send you a key that you have to validate on their sit THEN they will install the SSL.

Another reason to use a real web host who know what they are doing.

Client paid their invoice yesterday. SSL due in 7 days time.

Just renewed their SSL certificate and installed it in under 10 minutes.

Sure, they pay a premium for it because it is managed, but they weren't awake at 4AM because visitors to their site were getting a huge "CERTIFICATE NOT TRUSTED" error in their browser

so basically if you have a site with ssl on hostgator EVEN though you have to pay them for the ssl its up to you to remember to do it.

thats like not sending an phone bill in some form and the cutting someones phone off.
