Wheels fell off?

Are you referring to the drops? Looks like they are now roughly on par with Drop which is a very good thing for domainers.

No wheels falling off at all - genuine competition is a great thing however it is worthwhile noting that each domain name caught by Netfleet is on behalf of an actual customer who is still the owner the next day....

dare i say it but........ if we can now start bidding on drop then they might make more then $1 + cor each sale.

i'll put my hand up for guilty only because nobody else bid, when i do bid i put in my proxy and if nobody else is on it then good luck to me.

we all would like that gravy train to continue but in the long run drop need to see a return$$$ on thier effort otherwise we will all loose.

as for your dig fleur
...on behalf of an actual customer
i'd suspect you shouldn't be fooled by a competitor perhaps just testing their system.

Looks like the wheels fell off now Anthony isn't steering the ship.

I chatted to Anthony last week. He's still "steering" Netfleet amidst paternal duties. :)

I think recent results are simply a case of Drop working hard behind the scenes to improve their drop catching performance.

Competition is great - and it helps create level playing fields.

Fleur, you never cease to amaze me with some of your comments.

Before you post a statement like this, you should check that it won't come back to bite you.

Those with long memories will remember that Netfleet engaged in a lot of "testing" in the early days of their drop catching service. You did this so you could become competitive against Domain8 / Drop. There are quite a few posts on DNT about this.

Not only did you become competitive, but you became dominant. The worm turned. All that's happening now is a rehash of that except in reverse.

Embrace competition - your customers certainly do. I remember a time when Netfleet and Domain8 / Drop would compete fiercely to snap a big name - and the loser would always publicly congratulate the winner (whilst crying into their beer). Good times. :)

I forgot to mention this last night, but Drop has had a couple of ok results in the last 7 days. Perhaps enough to pay the rent for a week. ;)

  • WineryTours.com.au - $740
  • PropertyAdvisor.com.au - $199

If Drop manage to keep their competiveness up, then it is only a matter of time until buyers bid equally on both platforms. Imho.

For those of us who remember "how the worm turns", this is what happened when NF were trying to gain traction in their early days. They battled to get customers to bid on their platform, but once they started getting results, it happened naturally. Human nature - no one wants to miss out!

Hey guys,

I will be back soon. My Aunt is flying up on Monday and can take over some of the kid duties so I can focus on drop caching again.

All is fair in love and war and this is pretty normal stuff.

Congrats to Drop for not giving up over the last two years, and it is nice to have some competition again. Might make my bosses appreciate me again if we can start catching domains again.

Nicely said, and very magnanimous of you Anthony. :)

By the way, who are your bosses these days?

Probably better to say make the investors happy as they are the ones who really like it when we catch domains.

Mark is still our CEO. I have been reporting to Fleur recently as she has been taking the lead at Netfleet with some marketing stuff. I still have to keep the wheels greased and moving so I talk to myself about technical stuff and call Mark when I don't agree with myself.

I must be old fashioned. Aren't you General Manager? And isn't Fleur a Consultant Marketing Manager?

Or doesn't G.M. mean what it used to mean?

We have a very flat organizational structure at Netfleet.
If marketing is important then that gets the focus and I run my requirements past marketing. If tech needs focus in the future then we might reverse that and marketing needs to run requirements past me.
This is just to keep our limited resources focused.

So looking forward to your return to the office Ant!

Glad you clarified our flat reporting structure though - we both report to the business owners and this particular colleague ALWAYS appreciates you! :)
