Sorry my mistake url is

I like it, nice colours and it's responsive.

I find the movement of the 'featured products' and 'latest products' a bit distracting.

Not sure if this is an issue as your still in dev mode but I always like to see clean url's.

How is the site going to be profitably marketed? Why would others want to join to sell books?

The name is valuable but I think the chance of this working out is very low.

The industry is not a good one and the name is way too broad for anyone but a major company,

Would say the following 3 are the main issues,

-Low margin industry which is driven by price.
-Lots of competition from very large players already well established online.
-Stock probably hard to buy at a profitable prices and likely dates quickly.

I don't think it matters much about the colours or look of the site if the basics of a business model aren't there.

obviously a long way from being finished, your plan is a tough road uphill, the only reason i would take it is if i owned one of those OVERPACKED used book store with gems in every corner, this way i'd have a unique starting base of stock, then i would offer my peers the opportunity to use my system for their stores.

this way i could become THE store for that HARD to find book from the past, but as a seller of "near-new" books i have to agree with snoopy that there are some big players already there and dare i say much better then you could ever be.

sorry but do some research and I KNOW there are as Helena is a book addict and we get books for next to nothing from london !!! and they arrive within 7 days !!!! normally.

other then that i won't get into the nitty gritty of annoying sliders and overall design, the website just doesn't have "stickyness"

I found a drop shipper, who will deliver within 7 days to Australia..

I know with Booktopia and fishpond it will be hard to stand... BUT well I will try to ... some books from dropshipper are cheaper than fishpond,

and I believe still there is a market for an online bookstore

offering others to sell books - I have seen couple of sellers on ebay,,

I agree with Snoopy here to a certain extent.

I think it's good to try new ideas and even if you are not successful the learning experience is sometime the most valuable aspect of the endeavor.
Get stuck in and you will find that your business model will evolve as you gain more experience and knowledge of the marketplace.

Hi Asantha,

I saw this article today and thought of you and this thread.

http://www.startupsmart.com.au/reta...dies-to-focus-on-getting-the-model-right.html

The bricks-and-mortar bookstore industry is here to stay provided owners can get the model right, says QBD The Bookshop managing director Mark Robinson.

The company opened seven stores last year and is set to open three to five new stores this year.

Robinson told StartupSmart they wouldn’t be opening new stores if they thought the industry was not long for this world.

“We’re always opening shops, and we wouldn’t be doing that if we weren’t confident about the book industry’s future,” he says, adding each new store is on a six-year lease and costs the company almost half a million dollars to set up.

“We’ve been doing this for 22 years and the industry has changed dramatically. But we see a future; you just have to get the model correct.”

People will always have different opinions, but I like Bacon Farmer's point about learning and evolving.

I like the look of the site and think it's coming along nicely :)

Cheers,
Chris
