Resetting offer history on inactive sales

Hi all,

I've just posted a blog explaining a new initiative at Netfleet to reset offers on inactive sales within the "Domains for Sale" area.

Please read it here and post comments if you'd like but in short;

1. If no offer or counter offer has been placed on a domain name for 6+ months, we have deemed the sale process inactive.

2. the offer history will be reset so that buyers have the opportunity to offer or re-offer below the highest offer of 6+ months ago or sellers have the opportunity to counter offer or re-counter offer below the highest counter offer of 6+ months ago.

3. All offer history is archived on the same page and the history will now be listed under "ARCHIVE" to indicate that a new offer / counter-offer can be made.

4. An email will be sent to the last offerer to potentially reignite the sales process on the inactive domain sale.

5. You need do nothing within your portfolio to ensure all is correct as the process is automatic and run daily.

Why did you guys chose 6 months?

If offers and counter offers expire after 7 days why wait a month to recognise that the negotiation has stalled.

We won't assume that a sale has stalled simply because one offer / counter offer situation has stalled. The main reason for stalling is obviously a disparity with asking and offering price so there is always room for other potential purchasers to enter the game and it is counterintuitive to "go back to the beginning" until a significant period has passed.

Fleur and Anthony, I think this is a great idea. Well done.

As Anthony knows, I have been banging on about this for ages. ;)

Though I probably would have made the period 3 months (but six is better than nothing!).

Which made me think what if NetFleet sent an automated email to buyers who had previously placed an offer on a domain reminding them of their previous interest in a domain once every 12 months.
