Domains For Tender

sounds like you have a gap in the market, program it yourself and charge domainers for the service.
There is definitely a gap in the market - but I'm not that interested in filling it. It's outside my core competencies, but if I'm right it's only a matter of time before someone does.

Plus there are already individuals that have tried to setup alternatives to NetFleet - and whilst it appears they have found it tough going in trying to be the "same as NetFleet" given that NetFleet has the obvious first movers advantage - they might find more success in offering what NetFleet doesn't and using that as a segway into cross prompting their rest of their services...

Good luck getting any seller to agree to that.

Either sell a name at auction or set a price and wait. No "creative" solution has proven to work better those two despite 2500 years of thinking up creative ways to trying to get more than what something is worth.

I think there are enough sale options at this point and i do agree surely a name will sell on the existing platforms offered to our industry at the moment

It is always a good idea when someone else should do it.

The problem is that all the alternatives services are far worse. They start with little more than the hope that someone will use it. They might come out with one or two different features but they have no buyer pool so there path to failure is clear. Offering tenders isn't filling a gap it is just another path to nowhere.

The only way a new company will genuinely compete is if they can get sales. Don't ask me how because competing is never easy or clear, but bare minimum they probably need to partner with big registrars to get listings displayed next to availability searches.

Great comments gentlemen - there is definitely the need to increase the market and it's education as well as the need to inject some alternate models into Netfleet (if only to keep everyone on their toes).

Basically, what we have works well on the whole - no system will ever be perfect, right?

We are spending about 80% of our time tweaking the current models, making information clearer and processes shorter and more efficient and I can tell you that the tender / blind auction process is DEFINITELY back on the thinking cards however it may be introduced on a project / trial basis rather than a wholesale change.

I will give everyone the heads up when further down the development route - it is a huge project to implement and it must compliment our existing system as best as possible.

You will all be pleased to hear that basically - we are trying to
1. increase the market (ie bring more buyers into the space)
2. make seller easier and more streamlined.
