Tim,

I've tried a few but sorry - I wouldn't recommend any. Even the contact you gave me never returned my email. Working with a firm from India now - they're slow and difficult to communicate with but will see how we go. Need to explain everything in very complete detail.

Seriously, outsourcing for major projects is a bad idea. It's worth paying local companies for quality and time.

From a decade of outsourcing these are my views & experience

INDIA = I'll Never Do It Again! , "yes sir" "no problem sir" "yes we can do sir" bs bs bs

I have only had good experiences with Indian development contractors. I wouldn't be surprised if they do not have the strongest IT skills in the world.

When you pay a local company are you sure they are not simply outsourcing?

Well no, but it then becomes there problem. And from experience in outsourcing shit a few years ago there are multiple risks associated. Including virus's(major), server misuse, data protection, dead line blow outs..see Tims post. Much less likely to happen when you use someone local.

I tried a guy from Pakistan. At first, he was good, fast, and good work. I tried him on little jobs first, then tried him on a bigger job, and he went south on me. He said he could handle two or three jobs at a time, but...

I felt kinda bad about it too because I think some bombs where going off around his town.

I have also tried an CSS expert from Philippines who had to take a screenshot of a text box, because they could not get the div to display, so they used an image instead. I was kinda not sure what to make of that.

Lately, I have been outsourcing to friends I can trust and it is working out really well, I must say.

please nobody get me wrong, i LOVE outsourcing, and i will be back into it as soon as i sort out this crap.

just for newbies, the thing is to feed the work slow and not throw all your eggs in 1 basket.

here is what i am doing RIGHT now.

china goes MIA, tim goes SH^T now what, tim puts out a call for help, help given, tim works 24/7 bleeding eyes, tim then goes to trusted outsources and gets them to find helpers, no luck, tim back to 24/7.

but in the end this will work out , people know people who know people so i will use my trusted outsources to find the next person.

nobody recommends someone they don't trust in this industry as it will turn on them.

SO, right now we are back to about 70% in just 24 hours and really excited about the end result, the last 30% is always the hardest.

Sometimes you just have to pull the pin and cut your losses whilst looking to the future.
