Hi Fellow Domainers and SEOs

Hey guys! Because Chris threatened to send me memes every day until i created an intro (which he failed on after 1 day), i thought i would sum up the initiative and do it!

Here we go... My name is Michael and i have been doing SEO since 2001, along with SEM, social, analytics & email marketing thrown into the mix. I have worked with many large organisations in Australia (both in-house and agency side), spanning an extremely broad range of industries including: shopping, classifieds and service websites.

My past client portfolio includes many national clients such as Carsales, Bikesales, Carpoint, Bikepoint, Quicksales, Carsguide. Additional to these, at my last role as the SEO Director at Steak, I was responsible for the creation and implementation of the SEO strategies for Europcar, Cheapflights, Musashi, Advanced Hair Studio, Real Estate View, Dodo and Computer Power Institute.

Right now, I am one of the SEO Managers at Razorfish, working on Suncorp's range of 10 personal insurance brands, with me a heading up the technical and onsite components. I am also the head of Onsite & Technical SEO for the Australian SEO team.

In terms of side projects, I have a network of 8 location based travel websites (which i do everything for; from research, website builds, SEO, social), with a branded travel blog soon to be launched.

I got into domaining just over a year ago, where i have been purchasing expired domains strictly for their link authority and existing referral traffic. I have since reached over 100 domains.

In terms of hobbies, i enjoy traveling, photography, gym, bike riding and martial arts. On top of this, i am also one of the co-organisers of the Melbourne SEO Meetup, and have given presentations at both the meetup itself (Social Media Automation) and at the SMX Bootcamp in Sydney (Link Building Basics).

Looking forward to contributing to the forum, seeing you at events and you'll most certainly find me in the "SEO & SEM Discussions" section.

No problems! Does this mean you will start ramping up the memes to Dave now?

I have the forum bookmarked, so i'll be back here on a daily basis. I look forward to some great discussion with everyone

Welcome FINALLY ! , yes give dave a shove :)

I met Michael last year at SEO meetup ( and many times since) and i suggest if anyone gets a chance to met him then you SHOULD, a WEALTH of knowledge and down to earth.

How about next time we met we drop the SEO and just talk photography

by the way Michael spoke at this months SEO meetup and it was great, the format is great and really complements the info you get on DNT imho.

Thanks for the welcomes and Tim for the great write up.

You have reminded me now that i need to share the presentation from the meetup (a home task i think).

Always keen to talk photography and travel! Due to the fact all my side projects revolve around travel destinations i have been to (and the launch of my travel blog in the next couple of months), I actually enjoy everything i do around my sites (rather than just a source of income)

Hi James, there were many reasons for the move after being there for 18 months. Without going into too much detail in the public forum, basically i felt achieved everything i could at Steak and I wanted to go back to an inhouse type role where i could do anything and everything to improve a website.

The role at Razorfish (even though didnt tick the inhouse box) was very similar in nature as I only manage the one major client, with multiple brands.

The client has invested heavily in SEO and digital, so we have been able to implement a significant amount of work since beginning with minimal roadblocks, as well undertaking multiple projects on top of BAU activity.

Welcome Michael.

I look forward to talking travel with you. Bookings seem to be picking up in the last week or so some hopefully the segment is recovering.
