5 Downsides to Domain Name Leasing

Elliot Sliver has posted a few of his thoughts on leasing domain names worth sharing.

Although it’s not a new idea, it seems that more people are touting the benefits of leasing a domain name than ever before. I have leased domain names before, and despite the fact that I have no qualms about leasing domain names under certain terms, I do think there are a number of downsides that need to be considered.

I want to share some of the negative aspects of domain name leasing from the perspective of a domain owner:

All good points, i'm still struggling with the idea ( as i want to do it ) but on the otherside i want to "kinda lease" a domain from someone .

Main issue is the "lessee may bail" one. Most do. The other stuff is relatively minor in my view.

I'm leasing about 10 websites at the moment and my biggest concern is that they do the name damage and then move on.
