Before or After .... Which is better

sydney hire car or hire car sydney

I am asking what works in a search engine point of view

I feel the first one sounds more natural .......opinions on this ?

From the searches I have been doing and checking combos on GAK, it seems that for search term traffic, After gets more hits.

People tend to type in what they generally want first then the locations eg. Hospitals Sth Sydney, Hotels West Melbourne, Restaurants Lygon St and so on. Ussually general to specific (but not always).

I kind of attribute it to social mentality...in realworld sense you go to the shop to get a litre of milk, but when you get there you decide you want a particular brand and it has to be full cream. You dont say I'm going to get a litre of fullcream Farmdale...you say I'm getting Milk...the specifics come after.

The reverse would be probably true if you were looking for a specific business, say'The Melbourne MotorInn' where people would most likely type in 'Melbourne MotorInn'.

Thats my view.

I think a lot depends on purpose of the site.

If you are looking to build a throw away MFA style site, just go for whatever gets the most exacts.

That said if you are planning for it to become a quality site that a business is built around then I tend to go for the one that sounds better when said aloud given that with reasonable SEO you will rank for both without too much trouble.

The same goes with singlur vs plural.

i'm a sydneycarhire not carhiresydney kinda guy, i have very few exceptions in the folio.

this has always been a "which came first the chicken......................" question.

but think like this, carhiresydney and sydneycarhire don't rank first page anyway ! but a crappy site like

"Before" is the natural syntax

"After" is an iterative or drill down search (sometimes called a reversal) where the searcher has started off with a keyword search and then got swamped with results, adding location or other qualifying descriptors to narrow the search.

Whilst i think at the beginning is the most natural i must admit after finding the correct category i will normally then add either price, review or location , cheers

I always go for suburb after the keyword when possible. They have different results, that said, lots of work and time and you can rank them both ways.

just create content pages with the alternate, content wins.

That's why I prefer the location after.
