After spending $636 million on The Trading Post in 2004, just as Ebay appeared on the horizon, Telstra have apparently now off loaded the iconic brand to Carsales.com. The Dutch company that sold it to Telstra must have been laughing all the way to the bank, after Telstra fought it out with Fairfax and Packer to take control of the company. I wonder what the brand is worth now?

Do we have any idea what CarSales paid for TradingPost? Can't see it being anywhere near the $636m that Telstra paid for it.
They didn't buy the Trading Post, they are just leasing it. I imagine it will lead to an eventual buyout though.
