PayPal think hyphens are ok because http://www.paypal.com.au/
redirects to https://www.paypal-australia.com.au/
With their budget and research they must have had reasons to do so.

didn't notice it had been redirected until I read this post:confused:

I have 1 hyphenated-domain.net.au not a fan of hyphens considering getting another but .com.au in a niche I am currently promoting as the.com.au and .net.au are asking for more then they are worth to me unranked.

Regardless of Google the ranking process, I have a number of successful sales to end users with hyphenated domains.

I have no probs with them if they are in an industry with plenty of online competition.

End users don't care about rank, they care about a domain name that explains what they do/offer....in my experience anyway. They don't over-analyse everything like many domainers...lol

Not sure what you mean here. Domainers typically use search stats and bid levels when looking at domains, that is something of a proxy for the level of enduser interest & development potential. I'm sure most endusers put in a a lot of effort to get ranked if they are doing business online. Personally would have said the opposite, is is typically domainers who don't care about rank because they are just selling an unused domain. I'd say they only care about rank in terms of appeal to the eventual developer.

Probably a good example of domain adding no value to a ranking.
