Good News , because Hotmail.com has had the stink of Death for quite awhile!
Anyone however that uses Hotmail.com email for business is foolish.

My hotmail account has been hacked so many times I'm surprised their hasn't be a class action lawsuit against them given how poor their security is.

I actually used to have some domains accounts linked to my hotmail account once - I literally had domains that were in the process of being transferred out of my name with 24 hours of being hacked once...

My Real email address is based on a domain however I have several alternate contact methods.

BTW I have just secured several GOOD @outlook.com email addresses
perfect for promos. all will be simply redirected.

like most of us i have a hotmail, yahoo, gmail address, i just only use them if i get stuck in the middle of nowhere and i have to revert to someone elses computer, but a business SHOULD NOT be placing these addresses on a business card or any promo they do.

i often have to kick and scream at them to get the message through but in the end they finally get what i am saying.

"perfect for promos" ???? i'm interested on what basis? just create a new email address for the domain in question promo@ 2012@ discount@
how hard is th@t?

i believe you keep it all within your control and forget about these free email thingys

even today i was setting up google maps, youtube, analytics etc for a client and i didn't start a google account , i create google@domain.com.au . this way all the info comes in and gets filed in that accoutn on there outlook or whatever.

this business will have changing staff over the years so at least everything is being recorded and backup in one email folder, it you were to use tony@ then when tony leaves its a mess especially after tony leaves and replaced by sharon, combine that with bigpond deciding to go with hotmail but hotmail deciding to change to outlook and GOD KNOWS next year your email address that started out as findtim@hotmail.com has become " i couldn't get tim because they changed domains and some F'r went and got it before so now i am " ...... findtim24932@hotmail

you'll notice there is no .com as they bought the extension so that has been removed.

BUT hey , i am a business and i have only had to REPRINT my business cards 8 times in the last 4 years as some numbnut in the USA keeps changing his mind ! thankfully i have a bonefire out the back so i can burn the unused business cards.

BUT HEY, thats ok they told me i didn't have to change and it would all be diverted to the new address BUT THEN when i reply the person gets it from findtim@hotmail and their computer has never seen that before so it throws it into the junkmail, BUGGER as i replied with an attachment that was my INVOICE that i need paid ASAP so i can feed my kids.

LOL, what a rank but it was just flowing LOL

-----------

"perfect for promos" , so how then when they move the email address are you going to TAP into that promo database you created? do it all again, move it all over in a CSV file , and what % will go into the trash bin, spam folder?

----

don't waste time on outlook.com email address, waste time on getting a good email marketing system and learning it.

NOTE: i mean NO offence, this S&*T just kept following so i just kept typing.

<<< Note the above bit

My comment about promos was Sarcastic.
Plus EVERY site I have ever setup has had info@{minisite domain} email setup as displayed email and forwarder.

And btw I not only have an email marketing campaign, but in 2008-2010 I taught email marketing as part of Certificate IV Internet marketing course

i did note that, i was talking about gathering outlook.com email addresses, and also i did put a disclaimer at the bottom of my rant.

i think that these forums are not just for the people who are "having THE chat/banter" but for the others who are reading the opinions and THEN may join the conversation.

if we just all go pat each other on the backs nothing actually happens, and thats what i love about dnt.

i just ask them if they have a REP from telstra and normally it means they have been SOLD the telstrabusiness package for their phones.
