www.pillowhunter.com

A new ecommerce web site I have finished working on. Site is developed in open cart. I had never used Open Cart before this project but I have to say I will be sticking with it from now on. The main reason is the admin area is extremly intuative and self explanatory. There are also quite a few mods and plugins to extend it's capability.

Anyway thoughts on the site appreciated. I am also working on their digital marketing but haven't started on that before anyone asks.

can't get the homepage "add to cart " buttons to work? in both IE9 and firefox. works in IE8

BUT, if i click on an image and the add it to the cart it works and then go back to the homepage THEN the add to cart on homepage starts working?

I think you will need to clean out your cache and restart to duplicate my findings

Overall - Site looks good to me, main queries,

1. domain? nothing wrong with it doesn't really add anything.

2. "We started Pillowhunter in January 2012 as a hobby to focus our creative energies on.

It’s given us an escape from the daily 9-5 grind and we’re excited to be able to bring customers a great selection of cool, creative cushion designs from around the world."

Would tart this up, "hobby" and escape 9-5 stuff doesn't sound good even though it has a personal element to it.

"M&K"? it is basically a neon sign pointing out that it is run by someone anonymous.

3. What is the marketing plan? That will be the main determinant of success I think.

The domain is the clients choice. I don't mind it to be honest, he wants to build brand but I know what you are saying. Likewise with the content, I have written the strategy but haven't had time to go into the personal branding stuff. I will mention that though. I think they may have some reservations about putting their real names up. Appreciate the feedback! :)

trust is an important part of an ecommerce site, put your face to the "about us" page and your conversions will jump

as for written content that should always be left to the owner as only they know their business best OR a copywriter employed buy the owner IMO

Only thing is if you left content to the owner it would never get done. Nor do I trust copywriters to be able to understand the strategy. Don't get me wrong if a copywriter is available I will make use of them, otherwise I prefer to write the content based on my seo knowledge and then have it proofed (unlike my posts on this forum lol)

you are right, but what i do is make sure the client KNOWSSSSSSS that all these pages of info, all these products need content ( even if its just starting content so i can manipulate it)

if you want a good copywriter then PM me, but she is not cheap but very good and has taken the time to do courses on seo.
