i want to get an ipad before the end of the financial year.

i want to use it ANYWHERE

i'm tossing up whether to buy it and then get a bandwith plan or just get a bandwith plan where i get the ipad

optus has a 16gb $48p/m with 2gb data which is probably all i need as i'm not an online music/movie junky

i did the numbers and that = cost of ipad3 ( from most stores) + $20 a month for data

but wondering in 16gb storage is enough?

my main purpose for buying is to test my website designs usability on ipad thats basically it.

any suggestions about your experiences would be helpful

thanks

PS, can i load stuff into it rather then download it?

i'm totally PC so i'm apple illiterate, struggle with my iphone !

Just get the wifi version and use your mobile phone hotspot sharing (iphone/android) to access the internet while away from home or your router while at home. The only place I use the ipad is in bed for browsing, mobile phone is better suited due to smaller size any other place really.

Tim I previously purchased an iPad 2 wifi (I previously had an ipad 1 3G) but ended up selling it and getting an new iPad 3, 3G/4G. I found that using wireless hotspot on an iphone was unreliable and would drop out after non use or just randomly. If you need to be out and about I think it is worth getting the 3G/4G version.

As for size I recommend a 16GB, I haven't seen anyone with an iPad that has run out of space on a 16GB model (even a mate who seems to buy albums every week!). I recommend connecting your Ipad to dropbox and using an App like Readlle to access your data remotely from dropbox

thanks, my brother has had an ipad2 from "day one" and has recommended i use my iphone as a hotspot and he doesn't have any hassles and he uses it "religiously" as he has an UNLIMITED phone data plan

thanks for all the advice, at this moment i am heading for a 32gb ipad3 and feeding off my iphone when out and about or my office wifi when home, hey! there is always mcdonalds and hungry jacks ! and i was even in a pub the other day that had a notice that you could log in if you bought a beer ! well why else would i be in a pub???

melbourne seems to be slow on the uptake of providing free internet in pubs, cafes etc, it was almost expected when i was in sydney @ 2004-6 but even now in melb its hard to find.

ok, so i ended up getting a 32gb black ipad3 wifi only

i went to harvey norman and they didn't have any and said they couldn't order them ! "apple gives us what they want when they want " ! what a great business to be in, imagine being in the position to TELL businesses to BUY and they are glad for it?

anyway, the guy search other stores stock holdings and found one 100klms away and rang them then they approved to transfer it to my local store so i should have it this week he reckons and he'll ring me, all i did is pay 10% deposit $65 and sit back and wait.

I've ALWAYS found harvey normans service amazing until you buy, walk back in with something and you are dead in the water but buying something they leap over mountains. all in all i fidn them good

i took everyones advice thankyou but the ruling vote went to my brother who has had an ipad from day one and upgraded religiously and hasn't had any hassles with wifi only

thanks for your time
