Time between purchase and developing a .com.au

Hello DNTrade members

Another newbie q.

How long between the purchase of a .com.au and the development (for Domain Monetisation), can you allow before auDA starts to act?

Being new to Domain Monetisation, I'm not sure how long I could sit on an undeveloped .com.au

Thank you
Blue Wren

there is no fixed time period, and auDA have in the past been reasonable about this.

I think they would have an issue if you register 500 names for monetisation and then don't monetise a single one after a year.

good advice, i hadn't thought of that aspect, but say you had 100 domains in the same "category/genre" and you developed 20-25 showing "progression" that would be ok wouldn't it?

Just park it straight away then! Set up an account with Rook Media, change the NS then add the domains to your account.

You could have 200 domains up and running within 10 mins! You will hopefully earn a few bucks straight away and also, importantly, gain some insight on the domains - eg amount of traffic - so you know which to focus on.

Then you can take your time, pulling the 'best' ones out and individually developing them.

What does rook media do exactly?

They're a domain parking company, so if you list your domains with them, set to their name servers, when someone browses to your site they will be shown a page full of adverts which you in turn make money from visitors clicking on an advert. It's free to do this, however the parking company will take a cut of what you earn on each click.

An example is:

http://cars.net.au/

i have alot of high ranking domains that i have put my own "google bait" on them. but i have another 80 i want to get ranking the same way ASAP.

i make no money on them "at this moment" as my idea is to develop them with some affiliate marketing

has anyone got an opinion about the way these rook media type of sites rank with google?

the way i do it i get a 1,2,or 3 ranking within days for a 2 word geo search term eg "bendigo optometrist" as i have "bendigo optometrist dot com au "

(that is just a version1 site, i'm working on MUCH better version 2 )

i typed in car sales, car, buy a car, and cars.net.au didn't come up so where is the traffic coming from?

In a word... terribly. Quite right too as they have little substance.

But, just as the term implies, it's a great place to 'park' your domains between registration and development. And, as long as the advertising links are relevant it fulfils 'close and substantial' test for auDA

They can still get traffic from direct type-ins, old links etc

thanks, i think i'll stick to what i'm doing... just make myself do it faster so i don't break any rules,

i can setup 80 domains the way i do it in 20mins each which is a whole week really of mind boring work, but version 2 will have affilaite links VERY targeted to the domain visitor so it will be worth the effort. its just finding a spare WEEK !

Hi Tim,

I thought you mentioned you were going to outsource this work? Wasn't viable or do I just have my wires crossed?
