Might be old news to some but I just noticed Google+ has now introduced business pages... just set one up, but not sure if they allow vanity urls yet?

Yeah they have been out for a while, I have made a few for my own sites.

I have also had some good success with clients Google Plus Pages, it is also advisable to have the verified with Google Plus, you can also add the widgets to your site.

But overall 100% advise on setting them up.

but for personal Google+ pages add me here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/104627466131988547008/

As of now, I think Google has not yet provided a vanity URL for Google+ Pages. But you can use this http://gplus.to/ to customize your brand page URL.

Setting redirects to your G+ pages instead of using URL shorteners

I've only recently made a business page on Google +

IMO the best way to get people to your business page is via a ".htaccess" redirect.

1.
Log into your Google acct.

2.
Use "as" your business page.

3.
Right click the URL on your profile name to get the permalink for your page (I can't believe how many times I overlooked that!).

The user ID in the URL will vary - mine is used as the example below so you can see it work if you want before doing similar.

4.
Create a new text file and paste in your version of the below:

Code:
RedirectPermanent /+ https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/101297046959825217088/101297046959825217088

5.
Then upload it to your root directory on the server (or save your updated file).

6.
Then when you visit this address "YourWebsiteHere.com.au/+" on your domain, you'll be redirected to your business brand page on Google +

7.
In my case, the example above can be seen by visiting FarCool.com/+

IMO it's more logical and brandworthy than standardising on a URL shortener.

Hope that's valuable to someone here, cheers, Ben

I'm starting to see more TV ads sending facebook users via their own website too.

like: URL.com/facebook for example.

I think it's a good idea.

Cheers Johno, yeah, I agree, TV advertisers have seemed to ramp up the various uses for their domains in recent months. It's good to see.
