Drops today - 2011

Seeing as it would create a massive issue as a subdomain of .id.au and domain that's an .id.au would come up as the same name, so yes I would be inclined to think you'd lose it.

You'd have a hard time defending it, unless your nickname is 'www' :D

ELIGIBILITY AND ALLOCATION RULES FOR ID.AU

The id.au 2LD is for individuals.

The following rules are to be read in conjunction with the Eligibility and Allocation Rules for All Open 2LDs, contained in Schedule A of this document.

1. To be eligible for a domain name in the id.au 2LD, registrants must be:
a) an Australian citizen; or
b) an Australian resident.

2. Domain names in the id.au 2LD must be:
a) an exact match, abbreviation or acronym of the registrant’s personal name; or
b) otherwise closely and substantially connected to the registrant, because the domain name:

(i) includes, or is derived from, one or more words of the registrant's personal name; or
(ii) is a name by which the registrant is commonly known (ie. a nickname).

Just looking at the drops today, and there is one particular "policy delete" that already has a bid.

Why would anyone bother looking for trouble?

(Incidentally, I looked up who the current owner is / was, and was surprised that it was a largish media / marketing company).

Another PD on offer today, but no bids as yet.

The company, with just 17 employees, got 68 million hits on its site in August, making it one of the most popular manufacturing websites.

Different extensions but still.. 68 million hits and this is 5 years ago. If you look at the site now, they obviously got out of the manufacturing business and into advertising.

Weird they would even buy that domain, I do not see how it sites with what they do.
 
Someone is perhaps going to be peed off today!

The domain ItConsulting.com.au was backordered on Netfleet, but there was some fierce bidding on Drop with the price finishing at $1256 (6 bidders).

Unfortunately for the person who backordered it, Drop won the day.

NF still had a good day by picking up all the other bigger ones.
 
BHB.com.au is dropping today.

Given that we still have the old "close and substantial" rule (which incorporates domain monetisation), I wonder if "Bald Headed Bastard"
would be a suitable acronym? ;)

Any other thoughts or suggestions?
 
Well done Netfleet - picked up all the biggies today including payment.com.au at $4701.

The market is definitely getting hotter. Who remembers the "good old days" of just 18 months ago? ;)

18 months ago domains were still going for a bit but hehe, CarParts, Currency Trading ect

Interesting one. People looking to start air conditioning businesses in asia? :P

I suspect it would get massive traffic direct from people typing airasia.com.au instead of airasia.com
