SSL required for Facebook apps by October

I have many apps, on many different facebook pages, all using the one domain name
The apps are basically just web pages
Most are Ebay partner network pages

Facebook now says all apps require SSL or else by October

Why would I pay $50 at my host for ssl when many places sell them for under $9 per year ?

I only barely understand what exactly SSL is

You don't have to buy the SSL from your host.

I get mine from Godaddy with promo code for sub $10.

Does your host offer use of a shared SSL certificate?

If your apps are for exclusive use on facebook and you don't need your name on the certificate, than I would be using that.

Otherwise yes, you will need a dedicated IP (or dynamic DNS service) for your SSL.
