Good sale, would guess it is someone in the industry (maybe 1300numberaustralia.com.au who seem to be a big player), I would imagine this is the kind of area with alot of money in it. Well suited to internet sales also. Would imagine they'd be losing traffic to it also.

It's a great sale. The thing is people who understand the benefits of 1300 numbers understand the benefits of quality domain names so you're always likely to get a higher amount for a sale like this compared to the sale of another generic domain in another industry with similar 'metrics'

Kind of like domainname.com selling for $1,000,000. Not sure it really deserved to fetch such a high price based on the industry, market search volumes etc. Not compared to some other industries anyway.

I think so, it is basically a tech industry (1300), and very similar to domains.

Regarding domainnames.com I think that is true, if it was a domain with similar metrics about say womens shoes it probably would have sold for no where near that level. The sale surprised me, but you've got a group of guys interested who are obsessed with domains potentially competing to buy it, plus they probably know how to get the most out of it and if there is one industry where participants might overvalue a domain relating to their industry it is the domain industry itself.

The confusion of the singular "domainname.com" .. the million dollar name .. and the plural "domainnames.com" .. owned since 1996 by Network Solutions, LLC ..

Domainname.com would struggle to get business at $29.95 USD for .com etc

Domainnames.com *$6.99 domain offer applies to DomainNames.com DOMAIN ONLY product (Network Solutions nsWebAddress™ product)

Confusion could be costly ..
